Biodynamic. Single-vineyard topped-up style of Chardonnay; 1.6ha of vines planted in 1980s by Valentin’s father on limestone soils at 350m, on a west-facing parcel. This wine is done direct press, with, fermentation in stainless steel tanks as well as barrels; all aging is in neutral barrel. No SO2, no fining, no filtration. The nose has aromas of nuttiness, honeysuckle, flint and candied lemon. The palate is dry with high acids and an opulent body with round texture. Flavors of tree fruit like baked apple, underripe peach are mirrored with touches of pineapple, tropical fruit & jasmine. Utterly complex for the price range, Valentin Morel shows his artistry and technique in this Chardonnay. Wonderful expression of Jura's terroir and rustically elegant philosophies.
